While it's best to just leave it to the pros... if you must shoot off your own fireworks this Fourth of July, here's what's legal and what will cost you hundreds in fines.

If you live in Larimer County, the sheriff's office has shared a list of legal fireworks, noting that 'any fireworks that leave the ground or explode are illegal in Colorado.'

'Fountains, toy caps, snake or glow worms, ground spinners, illuminating torches, dipped sticks and sparklers, toy propellants and noise makers that crackle or whistle, but don't explode.'

However, within Fort Collins city limits, ALL fireworks are illegal INCLUDING those listed above.

'ALL fireworks, including sparklers and snakes, are illegal to sell, possess, or use in the city of Fort Collins.' (fcgov.com)

Fort Collins Police Services encourages residents to not set off their own fireworks, posting on Facebook, 'For the love of veterans, pets and our hot, dry Colorado environment, please leave the fireworks to the professionals.'
