Security staff ejected multiple fans from the CONCACAF Nations League final at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday (June 6) after they violated the fan code of conduct.

According to a statement from the stadium management company, one individual injured a U.S. player after throwing an object onto the field. The Denver Police Department (DPD) arrested them for throwing projectiles, and another four individuals for trespassing.

Security staff has banned the former from all future events at the complex.

"While the night showcased Denver as a world-class soccer destination and Empower Field at Mile High as a premiere sports and entertainment venue, the actions of a few patrons unfortunately took away from a memorable event," read the statement. "Our fan code of conduct will continue to be strictly enforced to ensure a positive experience for everyone."

The Denver Post reports that the object, which appears to be a can, hit midfielder Giovanni Reyna during the 114th minute of the game. Fans also allegedly shouted homophobic comments from the stands.

According to the publication, similar comments paused the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal at the venue on Thursday (June 3).

"Empower Field at Mile High is fully committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants and fans," said the company.
