In recent years, more than a few monuments have come down due to their having represented painful times in our country's history. Will a city in Colorado be doing the same?

While no one seems to be talking about any name change for the city, it does seem like it's just a matter of time, if the trend continues.

Will this city be going back to its original name, in time to come?

In September of 2023, Mt. Evans became Mount Blue Sky after Arapahoe and Cheyenne Tribes of Colorado, as well as others, pushed for the change.

The wanting of a name change was due to John Evans (Colorado's second territorial governor) being recognized as being responsible for the Sand Creek Massacre in November of 1864, where 150 women, children and elderly were killed.

Evans, Colorado, in Weld County, was first established as "Stage," after Bill Stage who was a popular railroad brakeman. Stage became Evans, after John Evans, in late 1867, three years after the Sand Creek Massacre.

Again, no one seems to be talking about Evans going through [another] name change, its name does stand out when you consider that Mt. Evans had its name changed.
