Old Town can be tough enough to navigate when everything's normal; but when a water main breaks and water starts welling up through the street, things reach a whole new level of "difficult" for commuters.

Crews had to completely tear up Jefferson Avenue just west of Linden Street to make emergency repairs after a water main ruptured Monday, according to the Coloradoan.

The brittle pipes can crack as the ground heaves and thaws. (Water distribution superintendent Dwight) Dufloth said water continues running through the pipe to serve customers. He said crews will slide a stainless steel clamp over pipe to stop the leak.

Traffic was detoured to Lemay Ave, Vine St, and College Ave.  If you're planning on driving through Old Town today, just keep that in mind!
