Legendary Fort Collins Mexican Spot Announces Closure After 65 Years
Many people in Colorado have a love for Mexican restaurants. The way that they all have their own character and flavors, makes experiencing all of them a treat. To hear of one that has been in Fort Collins for so long, closing down, is hard to take. Maybe there's a chance that somebody will take over the restaurant?
El Burrito, on Linden, just north of Willow in Fort Collins, has been around since 1960; hundreds of thousands of people have popped in for food and drinks over their 60 year reign. I remember my first visit, back in the '80s; a friend knew about them and how they had great deals on food. That holds true to this day; great food at great prices and tasty margaritas. It's hard to believe that they won't be there anymore after 2025.
Jesse and Dorothy Godinez opened El Burrito at 404 Linden Street in 1960. Their loyal customers helped them survive the COVID-19 pandemic when, for 14 months, all they could do was serve take out.

El Burrito announced on November 14, 2025, that they'd be closing up at the end of the year. In their statement, you could really feel how heartbreaking the decision was to close El Burrito down after so many years.
... El burrito has always been more than just a restaurant, it’s been a gathering place for love, laughter, and sometimes tears. Creating friendships that will last a lifetime. You watched our family grow, as we watched yours, and you let us be a part of your family gatherings for the good times and bad. We will always cherish being a part of your family’s stories.
... While it is a bittersweet goodbye, we hope to see you for one last memory.
