If you're seeking an adventure that's truly out of this world, why not take a drive on the Cosmic Highway and make a stop at the UFO Watchtower in Hooper, Colorado. Highway 17, or Cosmic Highway, as it's called by locals, stretches through the San Luis Valley, and leads straight to a hotbed of extraterrestrial activity. This 600-acre area is nicknamed "The UFO Hot Spot of America," and is said to have had more UFO sightings than anywhere else in the country. Good thing then, that there's a roadside UFO Watchtower that's perfect for scoping out the sky and catching anything strange that may appear. The dome-shaped building features a 10-foot high observation deck and is surrounded by a healing garden, scattered with trinkets supposedly left behind by visitors from a parallel universe. At least 40 different psychics have visited the property, and all of them have agreed that there are two vortexes in front of the tower, which could act as gateways from our world to another.

Since the 1950s, folks have been reporting creepy occurrences, alien abductions, strange findings, and unexplained lights/objects in sky throughout this area of the valley. These types of things are what inspired local cattle rancher, Judy Messoline, to build the watchtower, which has attracted extraterrestrial enthusiasts from all over the world to Hooper for about 16 years now. Beginning in May, the watchtower will be open daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Special arrangements can be made to visit at night, and guests also have the option of camping on the property too. Admission is $2 per person or $5 a car, and camping is $10 nightly. The most active time to witness unexplained phenomena is between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m., however sightings have happened in both the day and nighttime. To make arrangements call 719-378-2296, and don't forget to visit the quirky, alien-themed gift shop while you're there to pick up a souvenir of your visit. The UFO Watchtower is located at 2502 County Road 61 in Hooper.
