East TSA Checkpoint Finally Open at DIA; So is A-Bridge
Another huge milestone has officially arrived in the 30-year history of Denver International Airport serving Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region.
The airport catches a lot of snarky criticism from passengers that come and go to other places, but true Coloradans know that our beloved DIA is actually pretty sweet. Ever flown in or out of LaGuardia or Newark? I rest my case.
The massive renovations they've been doing to the main terminal seem like they've taken forever, but the end is in sight as the brand new, fancy East Security Checkpoint FINALLY opened at 3 AM this morning, August 5, 2025.
Featuring 17 lanes and new, state-of-the-art scanner technology, in addition to new self-dispensing bins and other efficiency upgrades, the East Checkpoint has been under construction for quite some time. If you're wondering what it looks like and how it operates, simply look to the West Checkpoint, which opened early last year.

The main difference between the East and the West is the re-opening of the beloved A-Bridge, which many used to use as a fast security option in the past, then skipped the train ride to simply walk to the A-gates. Now the bridge is on the "other" side of security, meaning you'll have to go through security before you can make that long walk over to the A-gates if that's what floats your boat.
There's also new escalators installed to take you down to the trains after security... in fact, there's three of them!
All part of ongoing renovations to DIA as it celebrates 30-years of serving Colorado. No official word on whether or not Blucifer will be getting a new coat of paint anytime soon, but let's hope not.
