Saving money in Colorado got a little easier with the opening of Daiso store in Fort Collins. Where once there were expensive wedding gowns, now you'll find cheap goods for the home.

Daiso Opens Store in Fort Collins, Colorado

Many probably hadn't even heard of Daiso until it was announced that they'd be coming to The Pavilion Shopping Center in midtown Fort Collins at College Avenue and Troutman Parkway. In late March the store opened and I went to check it out.

The first Daiso store opened in Japan in 1991; in 2005, the first store opened in the United States in Seattle.

It's fitting that this Daiso is located where it is, as there's also a Five Below store in The Pavilion; Five Below sells much of their items for kids at $1-$5; and Daiso's items are priced very low as well.

I'm not sure what I was expecting as I entered Fort Collins' Daiso, only that I knew I wouldn't find any wedding dresses; David's Bridal was at this location for many years until the company filed for bankruptcy in 2023.

There are still two David's Bridal stores in Colorado, in Aurora and Westminster.

The Fort Collins Daiso is big, that's for sure, which is what "Daiso" translates to in English. They have many aisles of all sorts of different goods: kitchen gadgets, picture frames, footwear, glassware, toys, stationary items, etc. Nearly all the items are from Japan, though there are few American items that you'll find.

Many, many of the items are only $1.75, so it's kind of like a Dollar Tree/Dollar General in that respect. I did not see coolers of food like at Dollar Tree/Dollar General stores, but that's not to say that they won't have $1.75 burritos at some point.

There's a Target right across College Avenue from Daiso; maybe folks can stop in Daiso to see if they can find what they're headed to Target for, first, and maybe save a few dollars.

Colorado grocery stores have a new player in town, Woods Market. Right across I-25 from Buc-ee's, this grocery store is much more than a supermarket.
