Colorado State University is welcoming it’s largest freshman class in the school’s history, and the largest overall enrollment as well. President Tony Frank addressed the student body and the public at the Oval on campus yesterday. He related how the University, Fort Collins largest employer, has grown for the fourth straight year, and also how 1 in 4 students will be the first of their families to graduate college.

Frank also warned that state funding for the school and for higher education is in real danger of running dry within a decade.

According to the DenverChannel.com,

Public universities and colleges have been a target of cuts as state legislators dealt with tight budgets in recent years and laws that limit state taxing and spending.

Enrollment numbers may give CSU supporters a reason to be optimistic though, with the largest ever incoming freshman class of 4,544 and the overall enrollment at 26,769.
