You've flown out of Denver International Airport dozens of times; you've used the same bags, many of those times. Why not put those used bags to work, instead of carrying clothes and whatnot, but by being art?

Maybe you have a piece of luggage in the closet, the basement, the attic, that you know you're never going to use again but hate the idea of throwing it out, or taking it to Goodwill. You could be a part of this very unique art exhibit coming to DIA.

Thomas "Detour' Evans, an artist in Denver, announced in October of 2023, that he'd been commissioned to produce the piece of art that he submitted for a project at DIA. You might call it "Samson-Art," as opposed to Samsonite. This is going to be one "travel-relevant" work of art, and we all have the opportunity to be a part of it.

The project will be entitled, ""It's Not What You Take, It's What You Bring Back," and will be created using over 200 pieces of donated pieces of luggage that have connections to Colorado. Your piece of luggage could have a story: It might have helped you create your successful business, traveling with you from Denver across the nation; your piece of luggage could have been a member of your family's that used it to first come to Colorado. Maybe it's the luggage from your Honeymoon, when you flew from DIA to Hawaii.

If selected, your donated bags/luggage will be extensively prepped to be "upcycled" to be a part of the hanging piece of art that will be at the Concourse B-East (Expansion Site) by sometime in 2025. You can get started submitting your "future art pieces" with Detour.
