Colorado Students Sought for Free Virtual Aviation Academy
Are you concerned the kids are going to sit around the house spinning their wheels this summer? If so, this program out of Colorado will keep them occupied and challenged.
Denver International Airport is launching a virtual academy for students in grades seven through ten.
According to flydenver.com, students will get an inside look into the world of aviation through video presentations from DEN professionals, virtual tours, and weekly hands-on projects using household objects.
The camp will begin June 24 and end July 15, 2021. Group sessions taking place Thursdays through July 15 for two hours per session.
The Academy's Core Values Are Centered Around:
According to flydenver.com, the students will be engaged by:

- EXPLORATION: Students gain an awareness of aviation through direct learning and exploratory activities
- PROBLEM SOLVING: Students develop problem-solving skills while exploring real aviation challenges
- STEM PRINCIPLES: Lessons combine Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) disciplines for continued educational development
This program is free.
What Will You Need?
These are virtual events, so participants will need access to Zoom.
Students interested must fill out an application. It will need to be emailed to DENAcademy@flydenver.com before 5 p.m. MST on Friday, May 28, 2021. Students will also need to submit a DENAcademy waiver release.
Both the application and waiver are short and to the point. You'll only need to submit basic information such as name, address, and grade level, accompanied by the proper signatures.
This Sounds Like Fun
In my case, my summers were spent sitting around vegetating. My lackluster summer performance was accompanied by repeated shouts from my dad telling me to get my head out of my rear end an accomplish something.
Make the most of your summer. If you're a student, or know a student in Colorado, this might be the perfect summer activity.
