Just about every Coloradan who's taken any kind of road trip is bound to have at least one story to tell. Here's one the family will be telling for decades: An RV owner ended up dumping the RVs waste holding tank into a tank full of diesel fuel at a gas station.

While Montrose is over 300 miles from Fort Collins, when I saw CowboyStateDaily.com's story about a huge messy mistake, I had to find out more. I've never driven an RV, or been on a RV road trip before, so it grabbed my interest. "What?" "How can that even happen?"

While there's not much information on how it happened, you have to hope that an employee saw what was happening and shut off the pumps before anyone pumped the contaminated fuel into their own rig. But since it was Memorial Day, that Maverik lost out on a very large amount of diesel fuel sales, without question.

Montrose is not a huge town, but it does sit as a hub, with Highway 50 and Highway 90 going through the town. Hundreds of thousands of vehicles must pass through Montrose every year on their way south to Telluride, north to Grand Junction or east to get to the Front Range. The only Maverik in Montrose must sell a lot of diesel.
