Colorado Now Has a Cannabis Business Office
Colorado Governor Jared Polis has just announced the creation of a new department in the state's government - the Cannabis Business Office.
Colorado legalized marijuana for recreational use back in 2012 and ever since our state has been serving as what some would refer to as a bit of a 'guinea pig' as far as laws and regulations go with regard to the plant.
Now, with dispensaries all across the Centennial State and almost ten years of being legal, the marijuana industry can be described as nothing less than blossoming...no pun intended.
The newly introduced Cannabis Business Office was created to promote "social equity, provide financial and technical assistance to entrepreneurs and create jobs" in Colorado's legal marijuana industry, which has become worth roughly a staggering $2.2 billion.
Governor Jared Polis had this to say about the new office upon announcing its creation:
The Cannabis Business Office shows our administration’s focus on growing this thriving industry that supports jobs and our economy. Where the federal government has fallen behind, Colorado will lead. Colorado is, and always has been, the best place to live, work, grow and sell cannabis.
Since legalizing recreational marijuana the state of Colorado has seen a huge influx of tax revenue, much of which has gone to fund the state's schools and educational programs.
The newly introduced office is part of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and Trade and will focus on not only helping those that sell the plant in areas that may not be as financially secure as others but also encourage minorities to take advantage of the growing industry.
