People looking for a fun night out in Colorado sometimes turn to hitting up an axe-throwing bar. Sometimes those places need a great location to succeed, sometimes they just need a great name.
How Long Has Modern Axe-Throwing Been an Activity?
While it was the early 2000s that we began seeing axe-throwing places pop up, it looks like it really got momentum in 2006 in Canada with the formation of the Backyard Axe Throwing League. While today, there are leagues you can join in Colorado, most folks are just out for some friendly competition.
This man looks like how I'd like to feel after an axe-throwing session; I usually do not feel this way.
Of course, they're not really 'axes' that people throw at the target that's about 14 feet away, they're hatchets; small, but heavy, just the same. Some people have a real "knack" for axe-throwing; I, myself, do not. Having a couple of beers, doesn't help my throw, like it does for bowling. Oh well.

Being in radio, where we have to be creative often, I get a kick when I see other industries being creative; such as in the naming of their axe-throwing bar/establishment.
You can't just go with "Bob's Axe-Throwing;" you need to have something that sounds fun and enticing; there's a lot of competition out there for entertainment dollars, you need to stand out.
I put together a list of six axe-throwing bars/places that I think have exceptional names. Most have found clever ways to turn "axe" into "ass;" others, have gone outside the box in coming up with the "right" name.
