Most Colorado natives will tell you that things have gotten expensive over the years, but apparently, they're not as expensive as they are elsewhere.

According to a new report from the careers board company, Lensa, Colorado has been ranked as one of the most affordable states in the U.S.

How Does Colorado Rank When It Comes to Affordability?

When ranking the 50 states of America, Colorado came in at number 7 when looking at the most affordable states.

Colorado residents are reported to take home 36.00% more than the average cost of living in the Centennial State.

Coming in at number 1 as the most affordable state in the country is Virginia, where residents report making approximately 49.64% more than the average cost of living in the state.

Affordability Metrics Across the U.S.

Lensa based their report using data from World Population Review. The company looked at:

  • Grocery costs
  • Housing costs
  • Utility costs
  • Transportation costs

Using all of these metrics they were able to develop a cost index score that helped them rank the most and least affordable states in the country.

Here's a look at the 10 least affordable states in the U.S:

  1. Hawaii
  2. Oregon
  3. Maine
  4. Montana
  5. West Virginia
  6. California
  7. Vermont
  8. Mississippi
  9. New York
  10. Rhode Island

In Hawaii, the average wage is 20.32% less than the average cost of living. Hawaii was also found to be one of the states with the highest housing costs in the nation.

While we may be feeling the strain of high prices in Colorado, we can at least be thankful that it's not anywhere near the prices of Hawaii living.
