Closures at Rocky Mountain National Park Due to Cameron Peak Fire
If you have plans to head up to the Rocky Mountain National Park today, you might want to reschedule.
Thanks to a press release, it was announced that the northwest section of RMNP is experiencing closures, which includes several popular trails and twenty wilderness campsites. The trails include:
Mummy Pass Trail, Commanche Peak Trail, Mirror Lake Trail, Poudre River Trail, Crater Trail, Colorado River Trail, Red Mountain Trail, Grand Ditch Access, Skeleton Gulch Trail, Thunder Pass Trail, Little Yellowstone Trail and Holzwarth Historic Site access beyond the historic site.
Visitors are also not permitted to travel through cross-country travel zones, which includes Cascade Creek, Cache La Poudre, South Cache La Poudre, Hague Creek and Mosquito Creek.
The Cameron Peak fire has been growing rapidly over the past week, and as of today is only 4 miles from RMNP's northwest boundary. For more information on the Cameron Peak fire, follow the tag right here:
