The U.S. Forest Service is issuing citations to people violating a ban on camping or hiking in a burn area in northwest Colorado. Over a dozen have been issued so far.

Violations carry a fine up to $125 or people can go to court.

Since Poudre Canyon reopened to the public at the end of June, people are getting back to their normal activities, but fires are still banned. The High Park Fire killed one person and burned about 136 square miles and destroyed nearly 260 houses west of Fort Collins.

I don't know about you, but if I can't have a campfire, I generally don't go camping. I'm not sure why the people who are being cited for camping in spots that are closed couldn't find another spot to camp, but for me, if there's no fire, there's no camping. How about you?
