As of 8:30 a.m. on Monday (Nov. 2), the Cameron Peak Fire has reached 85% containment, as reported by the Cameron Peak Fire Facebook page.

A foot of snow covered the fire on October 24 and 25. While this wasn't enough to extinguish the fire, it slowed fire expansion enough for fire crews to make major progress this week.

The fire currently sits at 208,913 acres.

I went to Estes Park this past Sunday and the weather was undeniably gorgeous, there was one moment when I smelt smoke but it was super faint.

I will say though that no restaurants were seating outside because of the wind. On Saturday, fire crews were working in the midst of 50 mph winds, according to the Coloradoan.

Despite the heavy wind, fire crews managed to increased containment from 65 percent  to 85, and we couldn't be happier.
