
Is a Boondocks Fun Center Coming to Johnstown, Colorado or Not?
With Northern Colorado growing more and more, the need for places to take your family for fun grows. Since 2009, there have been talks of Boondocks Fun Center adding a location to Colorado, in Johnstown.
How Long Has Boondocks Been in Colorado?
It was in 2001 that the very first Boondocks Food & Fun opened in Northglenn, Colorado. Over 25 years later, there are still only four locations: Northglenn, Parker, Draper (Utah) and Kaysville (Utah.) Travelers from Northern Colorado on their way to DIA have passed by that Northglenn location many, many times. By 2028, there would another reason to come to the Loveland/Johnstown area.

It's hard to believe that the idea of Boondocks coming to the 2534 area of Johnstown goes all the way back to 2009. Thirteen years later, in 2022, the company would be company-owned; four years after that, BizWest would report that things are in motion again to bring one to Johnstown.

In 2009, That 2534 development was just getting off the ground, before Scheels opened their doors in 2017. To have a big Boondocks Fun Center in that area would definitely be bringing more tax dollars to Johnstown; good for them.
What Might the Johnstown Boondock Have?
In 2009, the plans for the Johnstown Boondocks included that it would encompass 10 acres, have bumper boats, bowling, a 3-D theater, miniature golf, a restaurants, an arcade, go carts and more. In 2009 the site would have costed $3.2 million; in 2026 dollars that would be about $5 million.
