How many mayors have you known that also have had a job that gets them out into the community, at their doorsteps, like this?

He's someone in politics who really gets out to see members of the community looking for help. Help, in the form of picking up some food and bringing it over for them. It must be fun to greet him at the door, 'Hello, Mr. Mayor! Is that my Subway order?'

The Berthoud Surveyor recently had the story about how Berthoud Mayor, William Karspeck, is now also running his own food delivery service, Berthoud Marketplace. It caught my eye, because you really don't hear about Mayors doing this sort of thing. Sure, Mayors have had regular 'day jobs,' but his one really stands out.

Considering that the Mayor only has someone helping with the delivery service on the weekends, he's really putting time into the business. Deliveries are available 7:30 a.m. until  9 p.m. every day of the week. It's much like Door Dash and the others, but the Mayor is only charging a delivery and processing fee, not asking for any 'piece of the action' on the actual order. That saves those businesses money, helping them to survive.

The Mayor currently has nine business involved that he delivers for, including alcohol delivery with Cocina and Cantina (which also has a Loveland location.)

The delivery radius for Berthoud Marketplace is eight miles; I live in Downtown Loveland, which is just within that eight miles. I may have to give it a shot.
