Larimer County is searching for a 28-year-old white male named Sonny Arthur Howes in connection with a shooting on Friday (May 8).

According to a Larimer County Sheriff's press release, the alleged shooting occurred at a home at 401 North Timberline Road in Fort Collins (the area is technically out of city limits and part of unincorporated Larimer County).

An adult male victim entered the Poudre Valley Hospital emergency room with an apparent "non-life-threatening" gun shot wound on his lower extremity around noon.

Deputies and investigators then locked down and searched the Timberline residence.

Howes was identified as the suspect. His whereabouts and vehicle are unknown. He has ties to both the Larimer County and Colorado Springs areas.

Howes is considered armed and allegedly has gang affiliations. He should not be approached by anyone other than law enforcement.

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office is requesting that if Howes is sighted by members of the public or his whereabouts are known to please contact the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office at 970-416-1985 or your local law enforcement agency.

Howes arrest warrant charges:

  • Assault in the second degree, Class 4 Felony
  • Menacing, Class 5 Felony
  • Possession of weapon by previous offenders, Class 6 Felony.
