Arapahoe Basin Officially Opens for the Season This Friday
Some might say that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day, but for skiers and snowboarders in Colorado, this October's is actually going to be a good one. That's because it was just announced that Arapahoe Basin will officially be opening for the season at the end of the week, courtesy of good ol' Mother Nature.
The recent colder temperatures and high-country snowfall allowed for A-Basin to open almost two weeks earlier than last year. The Black Mountain Express lift will begin running at 9 a.m. on Friday, giving guests access to the intermediate High Noon trail. Opening Day at A-Basin is more than just an afternoon on the slopes though. In fact, skiing and riding generally becomes a second priority, as snow lovers instead spend the day celebrating and partying in fun costumes, giving winter a warm welcome back.
Adult full-day lift tickets will cost $79 through December 15, and tickets for young adults (ages 15-18) are available for $67 and $39 for kids ages 6-14. Because it is so early and conditions aren't ideal, there won't be any beginner skiing available until later on in the season. Operations will continue to make snow so that more trails can open soon.
