Denver Public Schools took a progressive step on Thursday when board members passed a resolution to require each of its schools to create all-gender bathrooms for students.

Along with the bathroom requirement, DPS passed a resolution that teachers cannot be punished for talking about their sexual orientation.

Tay Anderson is a board member for DPS and said this to Denver 7:

We are going to mandate every Denver school to have at least one of these restrooms in their building so no student is put into fear or intimidation of having to go into a gender-conforming restroom that they may not identify with.

At the controversial Thursday night meeting, Anderson got a standing ovation for his attack on President Trump, saying he "Wanted to send a clear message to Washington D.C."
