After 7 Years of Back Pain, Loveland Teen Gets Robotic Relief

Doctors told a young woman that the pain in her back she'd suffered since a gymnastics fall when she was 12 was a sprain. They were wrong.

I have a friend who suffered for many years of her youth due to a misdiagnosis of what turned out to be a disease that she was born with; so when I hear of someone being misdiagnosed, I get fired up.

According to CBS4Denver, Katie, who's 19 and lives in Loveland, recently had state-of-the-art surgery on her spine at the Children's Hospital after it was determined that she actually had a fracture in her spine; it wasn't just a sprain.

The surgery involved a robotic arm; it is very fascinating, as that hospital is one of only three pediatric hospitals in the country that have access to that particular technology.

Now that she's no longer walking with a limp due to the misdiagnosed, pain, Katie's feeling much, much better, and ready to take on the world.
