1) Support local venues, don't ask for a ticket refund.

Our local live music venues like Greeley's Moxi Theater, as well as Fort Collins' Aggie Theatre and Washington's, have had to postpone shows and shut down during COVID-19, and will not reopen until April.

I asked Ely Corliss, owner of the Moxi Theater, what we can do to help during this time.

'Moxi and other venues I know are doing everything we can to postpone and not cancel shows,' he said. 'So, don't ask for refunds. Buy concert tickets to a show this summer now, and tune into live stream events.'

Reach out to your local venue through their websites or socials and ask how you can buy a gift card to use later this year.

2) Support your favorite local bands by hitting up their Bandcamp on Friday, March 20.

'This Friday, March 20, Bandcamp’s share of sales will also go to the artists and labels you choose to support, and as always, it will reach them in 24-48 hours,' the music sharing platform said. Read more here.

3) Buy up some merch!

You don't have to leave your home to online shop your favorite artists' merch.

4) Follow local artists' social media accounts while you social distance.

OK, like what else are we doing right now than trying to feel some sort of human connection — virtually? So, while you endlessly scroll Facebook and Instagram, see if anyone is posting fundraising links.

303 Magazine said to 'check the social media accounts of some of your favorite artists to see if they have shared a Venmo, Cashapp or PayPal handle to donate directly.'

5) Get them onto the Taste of Fort Collins lineup.

We ALL need something to look forward to right now. Townsquare Media's Taste of Fort Collins is June 5 - June 7, and we are holding a contest for which Colorado performers (bands, DJs, dancers...etc.) will take the stage that weekend.

Pretty much every band that I know has had to postpone, or worse, cancel, all of their upcoming shows and tours. If you know someone that you want to see back on a big stage after all of this has passed, make sure you tell them to enter the contest, and then vote for them. Contest entry here.
