5 Outdoor Activities to Do in NoCo this Summer That Aren’t Hiking
Living in northern Colorado, we are lucky to have the front range right in our backyard. From reservoirs and lakes, to foothills parks, and endless amounts of trails, NoCo itself truly is an outdoor playground.
For outdoor enthusiasts, looking to take advantage of our area this summer, here are five different activities to try out, that aren't hiking — because that's always a given living in Colorado.
Try Stand Up Paddle Boarding
There are plenty of places to try stand up paddle boarding around northern Colorado. To make it easier, you can even rent the equipment at Horsetooth Reservoir and Carter Lake. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced SUPer, it's the perfect way to stay cool on hot summer days.
Go for a Bike Ride
Northern Colorado is extremely bike-friendly! There are many paved paths to pick from, or, take a cruise around your city to get a different view of things that you don't normally see when travelling in a car. You could even pedal to a brewery or pack a picnic and stop at a park along the way.
Play a Round of Disc Golf
There are several disc golf courses scattered throughout NoCo. All you need is a frisbee or two and you're ready to go! Even if you don't finish the entire round, it's still a great way to get outside and exercise, and especially fun with a few friends to compete against.
Go River Rafting
Nothing gets the adrenaline flowing quite like rafting down the Poudre River over rushing rapids. Or maybe, easy floating on the water, while taking in the scenery is more your style. Either way, you're in for an epic adventure. Here's where to start planning.
Camping
Now that the weather is finally getting nice, it's the perfect time to pitch a tent for the weekend and do some camping. Spots fill up quickly at places like Horsetooth Reservoir, so it's best to plan ahead of time depending on where you want to go. If wilderness camping is what you prefer, there's lots of sites close by that don't require a long drive.
