5 At-Home Activities You Can Do While in Self-Quarantine
Whether you are actively self-quarantining or just practicing some social distancing, it's clear that we're going to be indoors a lot more in the coming weeks.
The good news? We get to binge-watch Netflix without feeling guilty. The bad news? Staying inside all day is kind of, well, boring.
Thankfully, the power of the Internet can help keep us engaged until normalcy starts to return.
Here are some of the at-home activities I've been enjoying (maybe you will too):
Yoga is great for the body and the mind — and you can do it almost anywhere. "Yoga with Adriene" is my favorite channel to follow. She has hundreds of videos, and is very conscious of her viewers' ability levels. Whether you're a beginner or a full-fledged yogi, there is something for everyone. So roll out the mat, and get ready to relax your mind and strengthen your body.
You have to have a guitar for this one, obviously. But even if you don't, there are musical tutorials of all kinds on YouTube. "Marty Music" has always been my go to channel when I wanted to learn a certain song, whether that was a Metallica solo or a One Direction tune (no shame). Besides, won't it be fun to impress your friends with your new guitar skills once we can be in public again?
3. A Full Workout
I've been using "Fitness Blender" to work out for years...mostly because I hate going to the gym anyway. They have a workout for almost anything...whether you want to do some 10-minute cardio or over an hour of strength training. And even though it's an at-home workout, it will kick your butt. I promise.
I have always been a terrible artist and I still am, but that doesn't mean I don't have fun trying. "Rapid Fire Art" has tons of tutorials to awaken your inner artist. They're clear, and can be modified so that you don't need more than a pencil and an eraser. Drawing is also a great way to keep your mind busy, and away from your phone, when you're stuck inside.
Time to spark some joy. I don't know about you, but after being inside more than usual, I noticed that my house wasn't exactly, um, clean. Search through Youtube or find Marie Kondo's Netflix show and get inspired to get organized. It's also a show that you don't have to focus heavily on, making it great to have playing in the background while you clean.
Hopefully this list inspires you to have some fun in the face of uncertainty.
