41-year Old Clothing Store In Fort Collins Says ‘Goodbye’ Forever
Lack of in-store traffic and loss of business to a myriad of other options on the internet have forced the hand of yet another longtime, established brick and mortar business - this time in the fashion industry.
They gave it quite the run, lasting in business and even dominating the space along the way, since 1984.
But alas, all good things come to an end as Forever 21 announced they have filed for for bankruptcy - again - and this time will be winding down the business for good with liquidation sales.
They still operate five locations in the State of Colorado, including at 215 E Foothills Pkwy in Fort Collins. The other locations are in Broomfield, Littleton, Lone Tree and Thornton and all will be closed across the United States once what is in stock is gone.
Their website, however, will continue to operate for now.
Throwing some fire in a statement, Chief Financial Officer Brad Sell said,
While we have evaluated all options to best position the company for the future, we have been unable to find a sustainable path forward, given competition from foreign fast fashion companies, which have been able to take advantage of the de minimis exemption to undercut our brand on pricing and margin.
If you really want to go into a trade and tariff rabbit hole, Google the "de minimis exemption" and have at it. In the meantime, Forever 21 will remain forever 41, as it shuts its doors after 41 years in business.
