3 Mountain Lions Shot After Killing 3 Llamas in Colorado
Last week, three mountain lions were shot after preying on three llamas on a Missouri Heights ranch near Carbondale, as reported by 9News.
On June 9, after the first llama was killed, the landowner contacted Colorado Parks and Wildlife who then came out to set a trap.
The trap didn't work and two more llamas were killed on June 10, with reportedly five mountain lions on site that night.
“The agent for the landowner that was up there that night, in accordance with protection of livestock, ended up shooting and killing three of them,” said Matt Yamashita, a District Wildlife Manager for CPW, according to Post Independent.
Another mountain lion was seen passing through a neighbor's property the next day but there was no evidence that this lion associated with the llamas, so it was left alone.
