It's been a heck of a year for a casino employee in Black Hawk, Colorado, after being conned. It could be another lesson in "trusting your gut," when it comes to doing what someone tells you to do.

I, for one, am hoping for a Hollywood telling of this story from 2023, where an employee at the then Monarch Hotel & Casino in Black Hawk stole $500,000 from the vault. Turns out, this employee got scammed, in a big way.

It's hard to think that it could have been any of us, given the situation.

You may recall the story from March of 2023: $500,000 stolen from the vault at Monarch by a casino employee. It was the biggest casino robbery in decades in Black Hawk and made the news, big time. "A huge heist in Black Hawk." It is intriguing.

In the end, it does sound pretty bold, with all the cameras that every casino has, especially in the vault area, to just nonchalantly step into the vault, grab $50,000 and leave, only to keep coming back for more.

Upon her arrest, this employee did state that she was just doing what she was told, by taking a total of $500,000 form the Monarch vault to keep the casino from going into a "breach of contract" situation.

I remember thinking, "A likely story...."

Big Casino Heist in Colorado Was a Big Scam

According to 9News, after a more than year-long investigation, authorities have dropped all the charges against the employee, finding that the whole thing was most-likely perpetrated by criminals outside the U.S. convincing this employee to take the money.

The investigation found that many casino employees across the U.S. were at least targeted for this scheme in the summer of 2023. Maybe this Monarch heist was part of test run.
