A house fire sadly claimed the lives of two Weld County residents on Friday, July 3.

According to the Denver Channel, a fire was reported at a residence near Frederick, in the 240 block of Tipple Parkway in the Evanston community, late Friday night.

Firefighters arrived to the scene at approximately 10:50 p.m. Crews from surrounding agencies also responded to help battle the blaze. In a press release from the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District, investigators determined that the home was not equipped with working smoke alarms, but it's still unclear as to what caused the fire.

This incident and the two fatalities remain under investigation. The victims' identities will be released at a later time. No other injuries were reported during the fire.
