What's in a name? Plenty! Whether you're talking about naming a child - with two legs - or one with four legs and fur, it can be quite the challenge because, well, there are lots to choose from.

I'm not going to lie, naming our dog was more difficult than naming our child. We had a lot more back and forth throwing around dog names than we did when our son was born. I guess that could be attributed to more time to plan it out and think about our kid's name as that was something we discussed for a couple of years leading up to the birth of our son when we settled on Max.

Funny as that was the #1 name for boy dogs in 2021 followed by the name of Max's best buddy in school, Charlie. I find that pretty amusing but as for our dog, we had about 30 different names we wanted to use for her before eventually settling on Lucy, which just so happens to be the third most popular name for girl dogs in Colorado.

This is Lucy the "labra-heeler-hound" who is just the best little thing ever. Although, she's not very "little" anymore as she weighs in at a solid 60 pounds now. She still thinks she's a lap dog.

After looking through this, I've come to realize that there are a lot of dog names with people names that I know which I also find pretty amusing, but hey, a good name is a good name right?

So if you're thinking about adding a new furry four-legged family member to the house anytime soon, here are a bunch of names to choose from or perhaps see if your current pup's name made the list.
