Wienerschnitzel Coming to Colorado Walmarts?
The thought of there being more Wienerschnitzel hot dog locations in Colorado puts a little smile of your face. There's just something fun about them, and being in Walmarts is a great idea.
Wienerschnitzel Announces Franchises Coming to Walmarts in 2025
As of summer of 2025 there are three lonely Wienerschnitzels in Colorado: One in Colorado Springs, one in Grand Junction and one in Fountain. In the coming years, we could be seeing a lot more, inside of Walmarts.
Wienerschnitzel began as Der Wienerschnitzel in California in 1961. The founder's wife came up with the name from a cookbook. He decided Der Wienerschnitzel was better than "John's Hot Dogs."
According to 9News, Wienerschnitzel plans to open franchised locations in just six Walmarts across the U.S. by the fall of 2025; one of those six will be at a Walmart in Colorado Springs.
Fort Collins Area Snubbed Again
It's another disappointment for those in Northern Colorado, getting skipped over again when it comes to "new food," even though Wienerschnitzel has been around since 1961. Long ago, there was a Der Wienerschnitzel along College Avenue in Fort Collins, but it closed many years ago.

It'll be interesting to see how this works out for Wienerschnitzel and Walmart. It used to be you'd see Burger Kings or Subways at the front of Walmarts, but that stopped a few years ago. With many families shopping at Walmarts, having a fun "hot dog stand" inside them will put them on par with Costco, with their famous "cheap dogs."
