No fireworks in FoCo. Yes socially distant activities and live music. The City of Fort Collins has several other ways that you can celebrate 4th of July safely this year

While we won't have the City Park fireworks show, you can still plan a day of festivities, starting at breakfast, or before. The city will have several hot air balloons floating over Fort Collins starting at 6 a.m., which will remain over town for several hours, weather permitting.

At 10 a.m. there will be over 20 pilots flying over Fort Collins and Loveland to salute COVID-19 frontline workers. The planes will take off from Northern Colorado regional airport, fly over Lemay Ave. to Vine Dr., and then fly over Taft Hill Rd. to Lake Loveland and Boyd Lake.

'Several of the planes will be carrying COVID-19 frontline responders including nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, and assisted living facility workers,' the City of Fort Collins said.

Also at 10 a.m., there will be a parade of trucks, police vehicles and ambulances. Route coming soon. Attendees are reminded to wear masks, and keep distance from others.

While venues are closed, live music will hit the streets. Between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., local bands will be doing pop-up shows, presented by Bohemian Foundation.

'Local bands will travel to surprise destinations throughout the city for instantaneous live micro-concerts,' the city said, but the locations are secret, so you won't know where or when one is happening unless you're lucky enough to be there, too.

The Bohemian Foundation will also be presenting a video stream of local bands and Fort Collins Symphony playing a patriotic set from The Lincoln Center.

And, of course, if it just isn't 4th of July without fireworks, you can see them at the drive-in show at The Ranch, a combined show with Loveland. Remember though, it's first-come first-serve, and space will be limited (so maybe plan to get there well ahead of 7 p.m.).
