A judge has sentenced a Weld County man to 37.5 years to life in prison in regards to a child sex assault case.

According to a press release from the Weld County District Attorney's Office, the Greeley Police Department (GPD) began investigating 26-year-old Charles Young-Hicks in 2018, after a child told an adult that he had sexually assaulted her.

Detectives were later able to obtain a search warrant for his residence, in which they found child pornography.

Officers arrested Young-Hicks in January of 2019.

In February of this year, a jury convicted him on six charges, including sexual assault on a child, sexual exploitation of children, obscenity, pattern of abuse, child abuse, and sexual exploitation of a child.

On Thursday (July 23), Deputy District Attorney Tamara Love sentenced Young-Hicks to 37.5 years to life in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
