New Attraction at Water World to Open in Summer of 2026
It's a rite of passage for all Colorado kids, and it's about to get even bigger.
If I said to you simply, "88th and Pecos," you immediately know the place I'm talking about. I'm talking about Water World.
It's consistently ranked among the best water parks in the United States each and every year. Opened in 1979, I've been going there since my parents took me there many times as a little kid in the early 80s and beyond.
This past summer, I took my daughters there for the first time and they absolutely loved it. The only downfall was we went maybe a little too early in the season, and even though it was 100+ degrees outside, oh man was that water cold!
They still loved it, and the bajillion things you can do there, from the slides to the pools, lazy river and beyond.

Well, come 2026, there's going to be even more for you to experience. A new area of the park is set to open for their next season called "Summit Canyon," with exciting new thrill attractions, and improved experience for kids and their families, new modern amenities and what Water World calls "a whole new way to play."

It will be the first new area of Water World developed since 2021, replacing the Calypso Cove section of the park which had been there for more than 40 years. More details about the specifics of the new section of the park will be released in time, but for now you can check out the plans and sketches for the development on Water World's website.
