The parcel of land that is located on the northeast corner of 17th and Main Street has been owned by the retail giant, Walmart, for well over a decade with the plans of building a store for the ever-growing community of Windsor. The Supercenter was expected to open in 2010, however, plans were postponed during the recession.

Over the years, new Walmart locations were built in Timnath and in Loveland, not in Windsor. Walmart has confirmed to Coloradoan that company no longer has plans at this time to build in Windsor. Walmart has put the 20-acre property up for sale through Legend Retail Group of Denver.
