UNC Fires Head Football Coach Earnest Collins Jr.
The University of Northern Colorado football team will have a new head coach on the sidelines next season.
The school announced Sunday that Earnest Collins Jr. will not be retained for next season. UNC went 2-10 during the 2019 season.
Collins went 28-72 in his nine seasons guiding the Bears. He helped UNC have its first two winning seasons at the Division I level in 2015 and 2016.
The Bears had six players go on to the NFL and two go on to the CFL during Collins' tenure.
"We would like to thank Earnest for his dedication to the student-athletes, the Athletics Department and the University of Northern Colorado over the past nine years," said UNC Director of Athletics Darren Dunn in a press release.
"He has been a positive role model not only for hundreds of football student-athletes but to other coaches, staff and student-athletes at UNC."
Dunn said College Sports Solutions will assist with the national search for the team's next head coach.
