Two Suspects Identified, Arrested In Relation To Greeley Homicide
Two suspects have been identified and arrested by police in relation to a homicide that took place last month at a gas station in Greeley.
According to a press release from the Greeley Police Department via Facebook, on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at approximately 9:54 p.m., Greeley Police responded to a disturbance call involving weapons at a Greeley gas station.
As per the call, the individual calling on behalf of the incident reportedly told dispatchers that a man with a gun was trying to steal a car. As officers were making the ride over to the scene, they were informed the manager of the store had been shot.
When officers arrived at the Cosmic Market, located at 2730 23rd Ave. in Greeley, they stayed with the victim of the shooting, who has been identified as 51-year-old Victor Martinez, until emergency service units were able to transport him to a hospital.
Unfortunately, Martinez later died as a result of the gunshot wound, according to Greeley Police.
Greeley Police detectives were shortly after put on the case and were able to successfully identify two suspects in the Dec. 14 shooting: 22-year-old Trent O’Neil and 28-year-old Kyle Moore.
As per the press release, detectives located and arrested 22-year-old Trent O’Neil on Tuesday (Jan. 4) after serving multiple search warrants in the Thornton area; O’Neil was booked into the Adams County Jail pending extradition to Weld County.
Then, on Wednesday (Jan. 5), detectives learned that 28-year-old Kyle Moore was at a home in the 2400 block of A Street in Greeley. Due to the severity of the crime, police say that the Greeley SWAT Team was activated; they arrived at the disclosed location at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning and successfully arrested Moore.
The press release notes that the team was assisted by members of the patrol, investigations, K-9, and crisis negotiations units, as well as the Department of Corrections’ Adult Parole and Probation, Banner Health TEMS medics, and the Greeley Fire Department.
Multiple unrelated people reportedly exited the home and surrendered to police at the time of the arrest. A reverse 911 call was issued to residents in the immediate area, warning those to shelter in place and avoid the area of the incident.
Moore ultimately surrendered to police and was arrested without further incident following two hours of negotiations and the use of several chemical munition agents. He was treated on scene for chemical gas exposure and later transported to the Weld County Jail.
As per online court records, Kyle Moore faces nine different charges, including first-degree murder and aggravated robbery charges; Trent O’Neil faces six charges, including second-degree murder and aggravated robbery. Both are currently being held in custody without bond.
“We would like to thank all of our partners listed above, as well as the Thornton Police Department, for their invaluable assistance during this case,” the press release via the Greeley Police Department reads. “We would also like to thank everyone that called us with tips about this case. By working together, we were able to bring justice to the family and friends of Mr. Martinez.”
No further information has been released regarding this case since Wednesday.
