Turns Out New Denver Coach Sean Payton Has Some Pretty Sick Moves
It's not every day you see a Head Coach for a team in the National Football League with moves like this. Imagine former Broncos coach Vic Fangio dancing like fool to hip hop around the Denver locker room? Or someone like Mike Shanahan? Bill Belichick? Nope, nope, nope!
After the news came out that the Broncos were going to hire Payton to be the next head coach of the team, Twitter went nuts with reactions from the league, players and fans alike. Payton himself chimed in on a few of them, like this on from former Broncos Super Bowl champion Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders played for Payton in New Orleans briefly after his time in Denver was done.
Look. At. Those. Moves. Oddly satisfying to watch, right? Gets you pumped about next season, even before the official finish to this year's. Though, to be fair, it's been long done for the Broncos.
I see a coach who loves his players, knows how to relate and motivate and above all, likes to have a good time. Payton is 59 years old - not sure how old he was in this video, but the mask suggests it was 2020 because Drew Brees retired after that season. Regardless, Payton doesn't move like a man in his late 50's.
By the way, that's a catchy song playing in the locker room. I thought I heard his name - Sean Payton - in the lyrics, which at the time I thought couldn't be right. He's doing his own Payton-esque version of a dance called "The Griddy" which has been popular amongst NFL players and fans the last few years. But was that song actually about him?
Yes. Turns out it was. Kinda cool, if you're a Saints fan. But even cooler if the guy the fans felt this strongly about is now OUR head coach.
Any Denver musicians want to take a whack at our own Mile High version of this one?
