This Colorado Delicacy One of the Most Bizarre Foods in the World
Anyone who visits the state of Colorado should make the effort to try some of the wonderful food our state has to offer. Highly seasonal items like Palisade peaches, Olathe sweet corn, and Rocky Ford canteloupe come to mind right off the bat.
Other foods that come to mind are elk, a breakfast burrito, Colorado lamb, and of course a microbrew from one of the hundreds of craft breweries in the state. An obvious food that everyone must try is pork green chile. Living in Colorado, pork green chile is a way of life and we put it on everything.
A right of passage food in Colorado is the Rocky Mountain Oyster. Everyone who moves to and lives in the state of Colorado should try this delicacy at least once in their life. No, they are not actual oysters, rather, thinly sliced and deep-fried bull testicles. Rocky Mountain Oysters are typically served with cocktail sauce. However, I prefer them with ranch.
Taste Atlas has ranked the Rocky Mountain Oyster as one of the 20 most bizarre foods in the world. Rocky Mountain Oysters may be classified as bizarre when it comes to food standards in the United States. However, when you see what other foods made the list for most bizarre, the Rocky Mountain Oyster is by far the tamest and least bizarre.

I will forewarn you, just the thought of eating these foods may make your stomach start to churn.
- Casu Marzu from Sardinia, Italy is a cheese that is infested with live maggots. Thanks, but no thanks.
- Tiet Canh from Vietnam is a raw blood pudding.
- A-Ping from the Kampong Cham Province of Cambodia is sure to make your skin crawl as this dish is a fried tarantula.
A dish from the Corelia Fra region of the Phillippines isn't necessarily odd, the preparation is though. Pinikpikan is a chicken that is beaten to death. Seems a bit excessive.
Virgin Boy Eggs are far and away the most bizarre food on the list. What is a Virgin Boy Egg? Well, let's just say I am cringing even thinking about writing this. Virgin Boy Eggs are a dish out of Dongyang, China. The dish consists of eggs cooked in the urine of young boys. Yeah... There is no way I will be trying this dish. Ever.
