Think Humanity has been assisting refugees since May 2007 and we became an established nonprofit in December 2007. It began in 2006 when Loveland native Aimee Heckel traveled to Uganda as a journalist on assignment. She visited the Kyangwali Refugee Camp on the border of Uganda and Democratic Republic of the Congo. This is when her family became aware of the devastating consequences that the lack of education, malaria and other diseases were having in refugee camps. Yet it was so easy for people back home to help. Thus, the nonprofit was founded. Since then, this local, grassroots group has helped save the lives of tens of thousands of refugees and orphans.
