The New Version of All Star – Paul Parodies Singer’s Epic Obscentiy Laced Rant [VIDEO]
When the lead singer of Smash Mouth lost his cool over flying bread at the Taste of Fort Collins, I had to laugh.
Now, I in no way condone throwing of anything at anyone who is on or off stage. If you aren't playing some kind of sport with them, throwing things at them just ain't cool.
If you haven't heard about what happened, you can read our on the spot coverage here, but basically a vendor at the Taste of Fort Collins was handing out free loaves of sliced bread as samples, and people started throwing said slices during the shows that weekend. They did it during Atlas Genius' set on Saturday night, and they did it during Smash Mouth's the next day.
Steve Harwell's epic, obscenity-laced was an over reaction, mainly because it was still daylight (that's when kids hang out at festivals) and because, according to reports, there were very few pieces of bread that landed near the singer. I did hear that he may have been hit, but YouTube evidence of that hasn't surfaced. If you find it, please share.
But, it was bread, not ninja throwing stars.
Harwell and Smash Mouth actually had every right to walk off the stage. They probably have something in their contract that says that if they are unsafe in any way they can jet.
Also, as an American, because he has the right to free speech, he had the right to cuss the crowd out, which he did, in spades.
However, did he have to throw such a tirade? I mean, really, take it easy man. You're gonna blow a gasket, and not in a good way.
The lyrics of 'All Star' kept going through my head, with tinges of wheat, gluten, and grain littered throughout. So, I put it down. I'm thinking of taking it on the road. If I do, please don't throw any bread at me.
If you do, I may have to come out there and #^#^% your @#$#$ @!^%&!!!!
