One of the finer things in life, unless you're a vegetarian then you have other ideas but I'm not so for me, it's enjoying a delicious, mouth watering steak and that's exactly what I found at Sonny Lubick Steakhouse in Fort Collins.

Lubick, who was the head football coach at Colorado State from 1993-2007 and is the winningest football coach in Colorado State history playing in 9 bowl games during his reign as coach and in 2005, joined legends Bobby Bowden, Joe Paterno and Frank Beamer as active Division I-A coaches with 100 or more career wins at their current institutions.

Lubick's contributions extended far off the field as well claiming many humanitarian awards as well along with this wife Carol Jo. Lubick not only has a day designated to him (February 8th) the field at Canvas Stadium is named after him, "Sonny Lubick Field at Canvas Stadium.

Ok, now back to the food.

I had heard about this steakhouse for years but last night was the night the wife and I splurged on a really nice dinner and headed over to 115 South College Avenue and I can tell you that it was not just the best steak I've had in Colorado but one of the best steaks if not the best I've ever had in my life.

Just looking at it again this morning is making me hungry all over again

I went with the Bison NY Strip, perfectly cooked medium rare and the amount of flavor that came out of that thing with every bite is truly incredible and indescribable but let's just say I savored every bite as it was one of the leanest cuts of meat I've ever had too.

My wife went with the classic ribeye and baked potato which of course I had to share with her as well and it was impeccable.

Although I forgot to get a picture of the dessert, this is what we went with and it was just as decadent as it looks

So if you're looking for a great spot to go for a special event or just want to enjoy a nice relaxing dinner, Sonny Lubick's is by far one of the nicest and delicious restaurants in all of Colorado and it's right here in our backyard.

Our server, Greg was fantastic as well with his recommendations and the staff in general were there but not there "too much". Excellent service all the way around.
