It's obvious that the people of Fort Collins took the time to be kids again following last week's storm; and these days, we can post about it on social media.
Tour de Fat is a great event that has been put on by our Fort Collins own, New Belgium Brewing Company for 16 years. It raises money for local bike clubs, is a great time for the whole family and the 2015 date has just been announced.
Fort Collins is becoming known more for it's ability to brew a good craft beer than it's mountains. That being said, the two big dogs in the Fort Collins craft brewing scene are used to winning awards and making lists. They have done it again, but may not be ranked as high as they should be.
I'm not sure it's possible to live in Fort Collins and not know at least a little bit about New Belgium Brewing Company. Well, the Fort Collins-born purveyor of Fat Tire, Sunshine and many of your favorite beers has released a packaging refresh for all of their products.
The 2013 Taste of Fort Collins will be full of only local craft beers this year. In the past there have been beers from Coors and Odell Brewing Company on tap for the event, but this year it will be all craft beers from Odells and New Belgium Brewing Company.
I've taken more than a few tours of the New Belgium Brewery; and on every tour, the guides mention with pride that employees become partial company owners after a year of work with the company. I always thought that was a great way to run a business. If I owned shares in the company I worked for, I would do everything I could to be the best employee (and owner) I could be! Anyway, company management has just announced that employees now own 100% of New Belgium Brewing!
It looks like New Belgium Brewing Company has made a decision on expanding outside of Fort Collins. Apparently New Belgium has it's eyes on Asheville, N.C. for a new facility.
A Fort Collins tradition has made another top 10 list. New Belgium Brewing's "Tour de Fat" made OutsideOnline.com's Top 10 Best North American Beer Festivals list. The annual series of bikes on parade brings 20,000 cyclists to Fort Collins where the beer flows and the costumes are encouraged.
