2013 Colorado Flood

Most City of Evans residents and business operators who were in the “no flush” zone now are allowed to flush toilets, wash their hands and shower, but some restrictions remain in effect until the Wastewater Treatment Plant is fully operational. Evans has been under a ‘no flush’ order for eight days.

Now that flood waters in most places have receded and communities begin to pickup the pieces, it's mind blowing to think about all that has happened in just one week and how the floods have changed parts of Northern Colorado forever. As we have been following all of the developments coming into our studios, we have seen some pretty amazing things take place, from incredibly heartbreaking pictures to inspirational stories of harrowing rescues.

Larimer County and Weld County have created Disaster Assistance Centers and Distribution Centers for evacuees affected by the 2013 Colorado Flood.

The Larimer County Landfill is now accepting flood debris and waste from the recent flooding.

The city of Loveland was hit especially hard by the flood. Some major public areas are still unusable; like Fairgrounds Park, for instance. Luckily, though, Loveland residents are a resilient group.

With the flooding disaster moving from an emergency situation to a recovery situation, it's a perfect time to take a few minutes and see what it left behind.

A song for the Floods.

The City of Evans is imposing a curfew within the evacuated area east of Highway 85. The curfew will be enforced from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. daily to help keep the area secure.

The City of Evans Building Department started home inspections in the evacuated area. Inspected homes all will receive either a Green, Yellow or Orange tag.

The torrential rains have wreaked havoc in Northern Colorado and some businesses and schools have closed due to the flood water. We have compiled a list of business and school closures.
