Student Hit by SUV in Front of Lopez Elementary Dies From Injuries

A tragic accident in south Fort Collins left a young person dead on Tuesday morning. 

Denver 7 has the story on how at around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, an SUV struck a child that was in the crosswalk across the intersection in which the SUV had started, in front of Lopez Elementary at Wabash and Benthaven.

According to the report, the SUV stopped at the 4-way, then proceeded forward, striking the child.

The child was taken to one of the local hospitals where they were later pronounced dead. Fort Collins Police Service do not suspect drugs, alcohol, or speed were factors in the incident.

The age, gender, and name had not been released at this writing.
