The list of BBQ restaurants in Colorado grew by one in February of 2025, with a Colorado-based chain bringing their 5h location to Greeley.

Smokin' Dave's BBQ & Brew Comes to Greeley, Colorado

A California native has created great success in Colorado  with his thirty-plus years of restaurant experience. Dave Oehlman opened Smokin' Dave's BBQ & Brew in Estes Park in 2007. 17 years later, his empire grew to five locations by adding on in Downtown Greeley.

When you see so many restaurants closing down, it's awesome to see one not only staying open, but expanding. Smokin' Dave's has made tons of fans over its near 20 year existence; this Greeley location will be bringing many more to that table.

Smokin' Dave's BQQ - Who is 'Dave?'

Dave Oehlman first got into the restaurant game working for his grandparents at their restaurant in Los Angeles. Later, he opened and ran at least one restaurant on Maui, Hawaii before launching Smokin' Dave's in 2007.

You have to wonder how Dave came to the realization that he should launch a BBQ joint in cold Colorado after living in beautiful Hawaii. Maybe he visited to go skiing and fell in love with the mountains, and moved to Estes.

Smokin' Dave's BBQ & Brew's Greeley spot will be the latest restaurant to take over the space that once held Greeley's Armadillo restaurant, at 819 9th Street in Downtown.
