Smoke Alarm Recall Includes Some Sold in Colorado and on Amazon

We replace the batteries and follow the directions expecting alarms to help us keep our families safe. In the event of a fire, or a carbon monoxide leak alarms have been proven to give us time to get out, but not if they're faulty.

A very popular alarm is being recalled. The NightHawk combination smoke/carbon monoxide (CO) alarms made by Kidde sold at retailers and on Amazon.com are being recalled.

According to the recall the alarm can fail to chirp once it reaches its seven year end of life if the batteries are replaced. This can lead people to believe the alarm is still working, when it is not. People with the recalled alarm risk not being alerted to a fire or carbon monoxide issue in their home. Kidde has received reports of 8 incidents involving the alarms. No injuries have been reported.

The recall is for Kidde NightHawk talking combo smoke/CO alarm with model number KN-COSM-IB and manufacture dates between June 1, 2004 and December 31, 2010. You can find more details here.
