The location of a former Italian restaurant in Loveland, Colorado, looks to become the home of a popular Mexican restaurant based out of Denver. This would be the third Colorado location for the small chain that dates back to 1973. While there is a Tex-Mex Chili's nearby, this place should do well.

In 2024, after several years at The Marketplace at Centerra, Pinocchios was shut down and evicted after unpaid taxes in March of 2024. In the summer of 2025, renovations began on the former space; I reached out to the neighboring Chili's and found that an unnamed Mexican restaurant would be opening there. As the months would go by, I kept trying to find out who it would be; finally in January of 2026, the gang at WhatNow.com beat me to the punch in finding out.

Denver-Based Mexican Restaurant Expanding Into Loveland

According to WhatNow, Savina's Mexican Kitchen, was rumored to be the next tenant there at 1455 Rocky Mountain Avenue. Those familiar with the Denver food scene may know of La Loma; Savina's is the new name of two of the La Loma's around Denver - the one in Downtown Denver and the one in Castle Rock. According to WhatNow, Savina's Mexican Kitchen is also planning to open a location in Colorado Springs.

A Restaurant Named After Family to Open in East Loveland

The La Lomas that are now Savina's get their name from the matriarch of the family that began La Loma, Savina Mendoza, known as "Grandma." The first La Loma opened in 1973. It was named La Loma because it means "The Hill" in Spanish, and the restaurant was on the top of a hill. Their motto: "Her Recipes, Our Kitchen."
